A need for Open Hands

Recently, I saw one of the N.H. State Prison inmates from the halfway house walking back to the prison empty-handed. It is sad that the days when they could go to Open Hands Resource Center to get clothes and toiletries are gone.

Open Hands was a great place for the homeless and the poor to get much-needed essentials. Marc Johnson, the president, and the volunteers there did a great job providing for our most vulnerable population. Even one of my vets, Dr. Andy Julien, as busy as he was, served on the board and got his church, Immaculate Heart of Mary, to allow space for a fundraiser for Open Hands.

I look forward to helping Open Hands with future fundraisers so they can secure another place so greatly needed in our community.
