A candlelight vigil will be held tonight in downtown Concord to honor the life of a 23-year-old woman who police say died in a stabbing Tuesday.

Friends of Sabrina Marie Galusha are organizing the vigil, which will begin at 8 p.m. on Main Street near the State House. The vigil will include remarks from Galushaโ€™s ex-boyfriend Richard Sawnson, who is spearheading the event in her memory.

โ€œMay we all try to let Sabrinaโ€™s positivity that she left on us brighten the world, because thats all she would ever want from us. To be kind to each other,โ€ Sawnson wrote on the eventโ€™s Facebook page.

Investigators said Galusha was fatally stabbed Tuesday night outside the Penacook Place Apartments at 36 Pinehurst St. in Concord. The state medical examinerโ€™s office performed an autopsy Wednesday and determined Galusha died of a stab wound to the chest in a homicide.

Her accused killer, Daswan Jette, waived his arraignment in Merrimack County Superior Court on Thursday. He faces alternative counts of second-degree murder in connection with Galushaโ€™s death. He is being held at the county jail without bail.

Concord police and fire responded to a 911 call in the area of Swenson Granite on North State Street on Tuesday about 8:40 p.m., according to the state attorney generalโ€™s office. They found Galusha, fatally injured from a stab wound, 2 miles from where investigators say the crime occurred and 4 miles from Concord Hospital.

She was taken by ambulance to the hospital but first-responders were unable to save her life, authorities said.
