AAU hoops tourney champs

The Penacook Pride freshman AAU girls’ basketball team (pictured above) went undefeated in four games to win the Ballin’ by the Beach Division I tournament in Saco, Maine. Katie Meserve led the Pride in both points and rebounds. Miah Boucher scored 15 points on five three-pointers in the game that secured the championship. Youth softball

In Babe Ruth senior action, Hopkinton Banks beat MV Alan’s. Hopkinton was led by hits from Blake Licata, Madison Carmichael and Abby Simpson. Lucy Bamford and Olivia Bradfield led the defense. Alan’s had some great plays from catcher Zoey Elliot and second baseman Sadie Bernard.

Sol Beso Day Spa of Hooksett defeated Hebert Fuel of Suncook, 8-2. Sol Beso Day Spa pitchers Cadi Cunha and Julia Cahoon combined for 11 strikeouts while Hebert Fuel pitcher Laila Al-Shawf pitched the five innings with 10 strikeouts. Hebert Fuel catcher Natilia Dube was solid behind the plate.

Youth baseball

In Concord Northeast AAA action, Credit Union beat Aable, 13-10. Brody Rossetti got the save with three strikeouts and also hit an inside the park home run. Ian Mamos had four singles for Credit Union and Nolan Walsh and Austin Proulx had good games for Aable.

Youth lacrosse

The Concord Crush U8 girls beat Hampstead (12-8) and Hopkinton (16-8). Gracen Arndt and Sydney Brown sparked the offense against Hampstead and Kiera Llewelyn played great defense. Tadu Sirois was tough in goal. Against Hopkinton, Maia Bradley, Brooke Nelson and Brown led the offense. Sadie Pelletier and Sirois anchored the defense. The Crush finished the regular season with a 7-1 record.

Golf results

Sylvia Prive of Pembroke Pines defeated Diane Delisle on the second playoff hole to win the Women’s Senior City Championship on her home course. Both players carded a gross score of 80. Delisle had the best gross score in the 50-59 age group while Lois Davis (70) had the best net score. Cindy Brown (88) had the best gross score in the 60-69 age group while Connie Manus and Mary-Jane Cleveland tied for the best net score (71). In the 70+ age group, Jean Johnston had the best gross core (89) and Nancy Lamb had the best net score (73).

Joe Morrison and Tom Dustin combined for a 19-under par effort to win the Spring Member-Member Fourball title at Concord Country Club. Griffin Smith and Steve White (126) were five strokes behind the winners. Three teams tied for third place with rounds of 127. Ron Landry and Dan Murphy, Jon Lorden and Greg Carbone, and Dave Richardson and Dave Kruse tied for third.

Kim Miller and Corey Richardson shot a 70 for the lowest gross score at Duston Country Club’s Spring Member/Member Tournament. Richardson also had the longest drive. The team of Leah Raabe and Chris Raabe shot a 65 for the lowest net score. Michele Pisapia shot closest to the pin. In the men’s division, Cal Varney and Jeff Hicks (64) had the lowest gross score and Joel Goldberg and Rich Pisapia (57) had the lowest net score. Jim Schoch and Scott Dorn (66) had the second best gross score and Bill Gould and Craig Billingham (59) had the second best net score. Brett Cusick had the longest drive and Ed Moody won closest to the pin.

Purrier honored

University of New Hampshire junior Elinor Purrier picked up another prestigious honor by being named the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year for the Northeast Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Purrier will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Championships this Wednesday through Saturday.
