Thanks to the work of Sam Crawford and Henry Yianakopolos, Hopkinton became title town on Saturday.
Crawford, a freshman for the baseball team, tossed a complete game for the Hawks in their 5-3 win over Pittsfield in the Division IV championship game, while Yianakopolos led the lacrosse team to a title of its own with three goals in a 12-7 win over Kearsarge.
Crawford didn’t give up a hit until the fourth inning against the Panthers, who he shut down over seven innings to lead Hopkinton to a state championship in its first season in Division IV.
Yianakopolos has been a key factor the boys’ lacrosse team all year and showed up on the big stage, scoring on all three of his shot attempts to lift the Hawks (17-0) to an undefeated season and its first Division III title since 2011.
