The Gilmanton Year-Round Library hosted three special guests during a presentation Tuesday evening – Edsel the African pied crow, Peeper an Eastern screech owl, and Guthrie the barn owl. The guests were accompanied by Jane Kelly, an educator and raptor rehabilitator who runs On The Wing in Epping. Kelly frequently cares for injured birds of prey hit by cars and encouraged her audience not to throw food out of car windows. In her experience, discarded food attracts small animals that, in turn, invites birds of prey and other predators into the paths of traffic.
