A stolen boat traveled 75 feet over land and crashed into a Center Ossipee home shortly after midnight Monday, police said.
First responders arrived at the Deer Cove Road scene about 12:15 a.m. to find the boat’s motor still running and no one around, according to a state police statement issued Monday.
“Specifically, it was situated on the porch of the residence and had crashed partially through the side of the home,” state police Lt. Crystal McLain wrote.
No one was home at the time of the crash, police said.
Multiple police and firefighting agencies responded to the scene and began to search the water and shoreline for anyone injured or involved in the crash. No one was found.
Authorities determined, however, that the boat – a 22-foot Four Winns from 2007 – was stolen from a mooring at Bluffs Beach in Center Ossipee. It traveled over a beach and a road before it came to rest on the porch of the lakeside home, which flew a flag reading, “Saturdays are for the boys.”
The police investigation continues, and anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact state police Sgt. Seth Alie at 293-2037 or seth.alie@dos.nh.gov.
