In the context of our fractured society, it is a conspicuous thing of beauty to witness a community of neighbors coming together to defend the quality of their life and homes against the prospect of an intrusive change.
Kudos to the modest Pleasant Street community for its determined, collective effort to research the history of their precious neighborhood, and plan and organize a coherent, cohesive and civilly focused presentation to the Concord planning board on July 19 in opposition to a proposal to rezone the neighborhood to institutional use.
Heartfelt thanks to all of these citizens for their earnest hard work and joint effort to preserve this last lovely rural residential gateway into our city. Thanks also to those citizens from other city neighborhoods who stayed at that meeting until 11 p.m. in a show of support.
I pray Concord’s planning board and city council hear your voices and honor your concerns.
