Be the American people

Everyone in Washington loves to use the phrase “the American people” these days to justify whatever agenda they’re pushing. I keep screaming that “I am the American people” as I send letter after letter and email after email asking that the ACA not be destroyed, but rather fixed and made to work as a fair and humane policy that will give health care to everyone.

I’m screaming about immigration, and voter registration, and employment, and education, and taxes, and the environment, and equal pay, and the infrastructure, and the rights of all people to live their lives by whatever choice they choose.

I’m screaming for peace and the children of Syria, and Yemen, and Sudan, and Somalia, and North Korea, and America. I keep screaming, but no one seems to be listening.

Which American people are they talking about? Who are they?

Please scream with me. Write letters, send emails, make phone calls. Make a difference. Matter. Scream. Be the American people.
