A New Hampshire woman who pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges after 84 Great Danes were seized from her home said she’s been unable to find a veterinarian to visit them.
Christina Fay of Wolfeboro sought control over the dogs’ care. They were seized in June. Authorities said they found the dogs living in filth and suffering from sores, infections and other health problems in Fay’s mansion.
Fay was allowed to pick a veterinarian or veterinary technician to observe the dogs. Her lawyer said in a court filing last week that no one will do so “for fear of reprisal” and that Fay has picked someone without those qualifications. He said prosecutors indicated they will object; he’s asked a judge for approval.
Prosecutors haven’t filed a response yet.
Fay’s trial has been scheduled for Oct. 25.
