The University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team continued its unbeaten streak to open the season completing a two-game weekend sweep of Colgate with a 5-3 win Saturday night at the Whittemore Center.
Brendan van Riemsdyk, Michael McNicholas (goal, assist), Jason Salvaggio (two goals) and Shane Eiserman all lit the lamp for the Wildcats. Salvaggio scored in the second period and sealed the game with an empty net goal late in the third.
UNH netminder Danny Tirone stopped 23 pucks on 26 shots.
The Wildcats (4-0) never trailed, taking a 2-0 lead into the second period and a 4-2 lead into the third. UNH defeated Colgate (2-2-1) 5-0 on Friday.
The Wildcats are at home again next weekend as they host Colorado College for a two-game set.
