Shame on Donald Trump and the Republicans for their unrelenting efforts to replace Obamacare. Neither has shown concern for the American people, as all of their “replace” proposals have been scored by the Congressional Budget Office as costing between 15 and 24 million Americans health insurance while also piling on huge cuts to Medicaid.
A main Republican interest is to pass tax breaks on to its wealthy constituency. Republicans’ health care, like the Republican tax plan, is designed to benefit the wealthy and will increase our country’s ever-widening income gap.
This week our president took it into his own hands to strangle the ACA by cutting off federal payments to insurance companies designed to compensate them for cost of benefits to lower income people.
Again, Trump, like his congressional Republicans, set out to destroy medical benefits of the ACA rather than repair a system needed by many Americans.
To his credit, Gov. Chris Sununu responded to Trump’s attempt to strangle Obamacare by calling on Republicans and Democrats to work together to repair the ACA. Legislators must work as a team, not against each other, to make the health care system of the United States efficient and effective for all American people.
