Not only did Forest MacKenzie win the Capital Area Cross Country Championship on Oct. 19, but the Concord junior set a new course record and helped the Tide wrap up an undefeated regular season to earn the Monitor Player of the Week Award.

With the Division I championships looming on Saturday, MacKenzie put together a fine tune up, finishing the race at Merrimack Valley in a record time of 16 minutes, 10 seconds. MacKenzie beat the old course record of 16:12 set by Inter-Lakes’ Cameron Daly in 2015.

MacKenzie’s top overall finish also led the Concord boys’ team to first place with a score of 18 points in the 16-team event.
