An unusual event 30 years ago, on the day before the grand opening of The Eggshell Restaurant, when owners John and Susan Cronin received a call from police. The glass door had been smashed and to their dismay, a young buck had broken its way inside, wrecking havoc and smashing a hole in the wall with its antlers. The owners framed the hole in the wall near the entrance of the kitchen.

The Eggshell Restaurant celebrated 30 years of business in Loudon on Thursday. But back on the night before of the grand opening, owners John and Susan Cronin discovered that a deer had broken through the front window and ransacked the new business, knocking over tables and chairs and leaving a hole in the wall near the kitchen. Now, 30 years later, the hole is still there, framed for posterity. On Thursday, employees celebrated the anniversary with customers and friends with a cake and stories.
