According to many, the Christmas season officially begins as soon as Thanksgiving ends, and Concord celebrated – as long-held tradition dictates – with a Christmas Tree Lighting at City Plaza on Friday evening.
Festivities included horse-drawn wagon rides, live music by the Brian Waldron Band, a petting zoo, refreshments, a visit from Santa and, of course, the tree lighting with a brief fireworks display afterward.
The 31st annual event, organized by the Concord Grange, is offered free of charge but relies heavily on donations.
