Beaver Meadow School in Concord has been recognized by the National Title I Association’s Distinguished School Program for work closing the achievement gap between student groups in 2017.
The school was one of two in the state to receive an award from the national organization. Title I schools receive extra federal funds because they serve larger proportions of low-income students.
Superintendent Terri Forsten said the additional aid had helped pay for teacher training, supplies and parent engagement activities.
“When a school is successful, it is the result of parents, teachers, students and leaders working on a focused, collaborative vision toward student success. We are very proud the Beaver Meadow School has effectively closed the achievement gap with their students,” Forsten said in a statement.
