“Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.” These words of Thomas Jefferson ring loud and clear in Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address. Treating the flag and national anthem with anything less than passionate reverence should not be tolerated, he seemed to imply.
What’s next? Imprisonment or the firing squad for sub-standard patriots?
Wake up, America. Remember what happened in Germany in the 1930s? More attention should be focused on what Donald and his cohorts are up to, and less on the Super Bowl hype and the like.
And if he loves this country so much, why didn’t he serve it rather than become a five-time deferment draft dodger?
