It is no secret that most of our manufacturing jobs have left the United States in favor of cheap labor, no benefits and no concern for the environment. One of the biggest expenses for American families is clothing. Most of our clothing is made in places like China, Korea, Bangladesh, Vietnam, etc. (Remember Vietnam? The government’s boogiemen du jour were the communists, and we went to war, where more than 58,000 of our soldiers were killed, along with millions of civilians and unarmed college students who had the nerve to exercise their right to free speech.) But, I digress. Back to the clothing. These companies, who gave our jobs to other countries, are paying mere pennies for each article of clothing. They then sell these items to Americans at full price. They are making insane profits. When their costs go up, they pass it on to the consumer. Now that their costs have gone way down, where is the savings to the consumer? Why have not one of our leaders, economic experts or talking heads even thought to ask this question? Not one.
