Is President Trump another Professor Harold Hill, the fast talking salesman in “The Music Man?”
Trump, by his own admission, is the best salesman of hotel real estate. His latest sales pitch favors a gigantic military parade in Washington that he says will make America feel great again and will force our foreign enemies to acknowledge our greatness.
It is hard not to be cynical at the prospect of how a meaningless a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue will alter anyone’s opinion of our country at home or abroad. It is time for politicians in Congress to stop this expensive and wasteful allocation of our military resources and personnel in order to satisfy President Trump’s viewing pleasure for two hours.
