The Hopkinton JV girls’ basketball team defeated White Mountains, 37-26, in a tournament in Franklin. Sophie Potter led the scoring with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Bree Hamilton was all over the boards and Fiona Beane and Brooke Carlson handled the defensive pressure. Hopkinton will play in the championship game at 4 p.m. in Franklin on Sunday.
The Concord Boys & Girls Club seventh- and eighth-grade girls improved to 19-4 with a 44-32 win over Hooksett. Elizabeth Blinn (13 points, four blocks), Julia Dolpies (10 points, seven rebounds), Isabella Rivera (eight points) and Libbey Hicks (seven points, six rebounds) led Concord.
The Concord Boys & Girls Club boys’ “B” team defeated Bedford, 40-33. Liam Dooley (13 points), Max Leahy (nine points) and Dylan Connelly (eight points) led Concord.
The Bow third- and fourth-grade boys’ Suburban League team defeated Concord Boys & Girls Club, 47-33, in the first round of the playoffs. Tommy Tsouros paced Bow (29-7) with 18 points, followed by Brendan O’Keeffe (14 points) and Peyton Larrabee (six points). Jake Reardon led the team in rebounds and Gavin Buxton anchored a strong defense.
Sophomore Taylor Wenczkowski scored for the lone for the University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team (14-12-7) in a 2-1 loss to Boston University (12-15-6). Wenczkowski scored late in the third period when the Wildcats pulled their goalie for an extra attacker.
Senior guard Brittni Lai scored 20 points, but the Wildcats came up short in a 62-56 loss to Stony Brook. UNH is 17-11 overall and 8-7 in America East with one regular-season game remaining. Stony Brook is also 17-11, but took sole possession of fourth place, one spot ahead of the Wildcats in America East, with a 9-6 conference record. UNH’s Olivia Healy (13 points, nine rebounds) and Carlie Pogue (11 points, seven rebounds) also played well.
Concord’s Cassidy Emerson scored a game-high 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had five steals, and Concord’s Deb Morrill had 10 points and seven assists to lead the Plymouth State women’s basketball team (7-18) to a 61-51 victory over Rhode Island College on senior day. The Panthers end the regular season with a 3-11 record in Little East Conference play and will be the No. 7 seed in the LEC tournament. Plymouth plays in the first round Tuesday night at No. 2 UMass-Boston.
The NHTI men’s basketball advanced to the YSCC championship game for the second year in a row with a 93-69 semifinal win over Southern Maine Community College. The Lynx trailed by five points at halftime, but dominated the second half thanks to Jaevan Dobbins (18 points off the bench), Aubrey Stephens (14 points) and YSCC Player of the Year J’Quavious Thurmond (12 points, six rebounds).
The NHTI women’s basketball team fell short of a spot in the YSCC championship game with a 76-66 semifinal loss to Central Maine Community College. Michaella Biron (18 points, six rebounds) and YSCC Player of the Year Riselly Deoleo (eight points, nine rebounds) led NHTI.
The St. Paul’s School varsity girls’ hockey team defeated Winchendon, 3-1. Gillis Frechette had two goals and an assist to lead the Big Red. Gaby Roy also scored and Olivia Hale added two assists.
The St. Paul’s varsity girls’ basketball team defeated Choate in the first round of the Eight Schools Tournament, 63-58. Ella Stewart (19 points) and Izzy Iseyemi (16 points) led the Big Red.

Merrimack Valley baseball annual youth clinic series run by MV players and coaches for players age 8-12 has started. Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race registration runs through Feb. 26. Entrants in the race, a grueling 7.6 miles up New Hampshire’s famously steep and scenic Mt. Washington Auto Road, are chosen by a lottery, accessible at mtwashingtonautoroad.com/mount-washington-road-race. Lottery registration closes on Feb. 26 at 11:59 p.m. Following the close of registration for the lottery, a computer randomly selects the runners who will be entered in the race. The entry fee, charged to those who are selected, is $95. Notification of acceptance or rejection by the lottery will be sent via email to each applicant on March 1. This year’s race will take place on June 16 with a 9 a.m. start.
