JV results
The Coe-Brown JV boys’ basketball team defeated Oyster River, 60-56. Keegan Paradis (15 points), Cayden Donoghue (12 points) and Tyler Troy (11 points) led Coe-Brown.
The Merrimack Valley JV girls’ basketball team fell to Pembroke, 33-16. Emily Koufos and Morgan Tanguay each scored four points to lead the Pride (12-6), with Hannah Costello adding three steals.
The Bishop Brady JV boys’ basketball team defeated Hollis/Brookline in overtime, 48-46. Brady was led by Kyle Beane with 22 points, Connor Raposo scored 12 points and Patrick Brust chipped in with six. AJ Cipriano was clutch down the stretch, scoring a basket in the closing seconds of overtime, and then coming up with a steal and sealing the game with a free throw.
The Hopkinton JV boys’ basketball team (7-11) lost to Mascenic, 51-30. Zach Conroy had six points, while Andrew Beckwith, Ryan Graham, and John Jacobsen all hit a 3-pointer for the Hawks.
In Concord Recreation fifth- and sixth-grade boys’ action, the Christa McAuliffe School Blue Knights defeated the Abbot-Downing School Grey team, 24-18. Alain Twite led the way for the Blue Knights with nine points and Conner Hughes added seven. Ian Hughes played great defensively. For Grey, Elie Bahuma scored eight points while Gad Mukategeri led the defense.
The Concord Coach Lines Squirt 1 team defeated Keene, 7-0, in the opening round of the Granite State Tournament. Daniel Commerford scored a hat trick while Rowan Arndt chipped in with two goals. Colby Nyhan and Patrick Owen also scored for the Caps. Logan Hayes, Michael Mounsey, Jaden Haas and Nyhan each had an assist. Garrett Bishop had the shutout in goal.
The Tilton School JV boys’ basketball team defeated Brewster, 60-33. Bennie Gantrish scored 14 points and Nick Resendiz scored eight for Tilton.
The University of New Hampshire men’s team is currently in first place, and the women’s team is in third, through the first day of the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships. For the women, Concord’s Michaella Conery joined teammates Cayla Barretto, Emiliegh Glode and Angelyn Masters on the winning distance-medley relay, clocking a 11:47.23, just .06 seconds faster than the runner-up. Gilford’s Emily Wernig and Loudon’s Mary Mullen placed sixth and eighth, respectively, in the weight throw to score for the Wildcats. For the men’s team, Newbury native and Kearsarge graduate Zach Astle finished eighth in the weight throw.

Cap City Basketball AAU tryouts will be held on Saturday and March 11 for boys and girls in grades 2-10. Players must attend tryouts on all three dates. There will be at least one team for every age group for boys and girls for the upcoming spring season. All tryouts will be held at Bishop Brady High School. Tryout times (same on all three dates) for grades 2-4 will be 2-3:20 p.m., grades 5-7 will be 3:30-4:45 p.m. and grades 8-10 will be 4:45-6 p.m. Cost is $30 in cash or $35 with a check and covers all three tryout dates. FieldHouse Sports youth soccer clinics are now open for registration. The next five-week session of Little Strikers soccer skills clinics, for ages 3-6 begins March 3 and meets Saturday mornings. Merrimack Valley baseball annual youth clinic series run by MV players and coaches for players age 8-12 has started. Host families needed
Winnipesaukee Muskrats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League are looking for local families to host players for the upcoming summer season. Players typically range from 19-22 years of age and will arrive the first week of June and leave the first week of August. Host families are asked to provide a spare room with a bed, access to shower and laundry facilities, and occasional meals for their player – typically breakfast. Transportation is not required. Host families are offered free season tickets for their entire household, three free weeks of baseball camp for their children, free admission to all other NECBL venues, and access to special events before and during the season. NHIAA/NHADA Division-III Senior Scholar Athlete Awards Ceremony will be on March 12 at 9:30 a.m., at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord. All senior scholar athletes will be recognized for achieving academic and athletic excellence. Senior student athletes are nominated each year by their school based on the following criteria: must have a B-plus grade point average throughout their high school career, must letter and be currently active in at least two NHIAA recognized sports, must participate in community service activities, and must be role models for their peers.
Hillsboro-Deering High School Winter Sports Awards night will be March 14 at 6 p.m. Teams will meet in the HDHS gymnasium before going to breakout rooms.
