The New Hampshire House voted to strike down a push to ban soda from children’s meals Tuesday, 292-39.
House Bill 1668 would have limited the drink offerings on children’s meals to milk, fruit juice or sparkling water. The law would not have prevented parents from buying soda separately.
Supporters, such as Rep. Timothy Horrigan, D-Durham, said that the practice would let parents know the kids’ menu at a restaurant doesn’t automatically come with sugary drinks.
But a strong majority of the House disagreed, with opponents saying it would take away parental freedom and choice.
