Christ the King Catholic Church in Concord presented ‘The Way of the Cross’ on Good Friday to commemorate the 15 stations around the sanctuary at their midday mass. After reading an opening prayer, Deacon Winton DeRosia read from scripture concerning the passion in front of each station that adorns the walls inside the church. At the end of the service, DeRosia read The Resurrection of Jesus that has been added as the 15th station since the Second Vatican Council. Area Christian churches will be celebration Easter this Sunday with the exception of the Greek Orthodox Church that celebrates a week from Sunday. According to the Bible, Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection occurred around the time of the Jewish Passover, which was celebrated on the first full moon following the vernal equinox.
