City workers have started on paving and water main projects now that spring is here, even if warmer weather hasn’t quite arrived.

Much of the work will be focused on the streets surrounding Concord High School, including Washington Street, Warren Street and Liberty Streets. Starting next week, Warren Street – one of the main roads in front of the school, will be closed. Traffic will be routed around the area and student drop-off will be moved to Memorial Field parking lot.

On Monday, crews were grinding off the top layer of asphalt in areas and working to install new valves on water main pipes.

Road work at the intersection of Warren and Liberty Street is scheduled for Thursday and Friday and the intersection is scheduled to be closed.

Residents and businesses on Warren Street – between North Fruit and Liberty streets – will be connected to temporary water. The Warren Street entrance to the high school parking lot will be closed from April 9 through May 6.

In addition, Washington Street in Penacook will be closed to all traffic for bridge repairs Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27.
