Allenstown Elementary School hosted a day of educational events Friday ahead of Earth Day.
Local vendors, including the Allenstown wastewater treatment facility, came in to teach kids about pollution and the water cycle. Kids at one point gathered outside and peeped down a storm drain as representatives from the treatment plant explained how water flows through the town and how pollutants can end up in water ways like the Merrimack River. Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 since 1970.
