American Legion Post 58 in Belmont accepted new members in May. Post Commander Rich Stanley presented certificates of initiation to George Weeks, Tom Garfield, Wayne Kreiensieck, Michael O’Meara, Peter Eastman, Lee Cheshire, Richard Nowak and Mo Gouin. Any veteran having served during the periods of WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Lebanon and Grenada, Panama or Gulf War/global war on terrorism (any time since August 1990) is eligible to join the American Legion. Post 58 is a busy, active post and encourages eligible veterans to join them in continuing to serve. They meet in the senior center on the second floor of the Belmont Mill at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month except July and August and welcome any interested veteran.
