Former University of New Hampshire All American Elinor Purrier turned in a personal best time of 4 minutes, 8.24 seconds to place third in the 1,500 at the USA Track & Field Nationals at Drake University. Purrier’s performance earned her a spot in Saturday’s national finals.
New England Fusion U16 Gold softball is looking for a utility player to add to the team. The team currently has players from Concord, Pembroke, Litchfield, Londonderry, Pinkerton Academy, Souhegan, Windham and Milford. Public roller skating nights are returning this summer to the Douglas N. Everett Arena on Friday and Sunday nights. Admission is $5 and skate rentals are available for $5. Skating hours are 6-8 p.m. on Fridays and 5-7 p.m. on Sundays. NHTI Athletics Department Golf Series will be held at Beaver Meadow Golf Course on Friday. Cost is $450 for a team of four. Greens fees, cart and dinner are included. The tournament will be a shotgun start beginning at 1:30 p.m. Registrations begins at 12:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction, raffle, closest to the pin, longest drive, and other opportunities to win prizes. The second event is a nine-hole shotgun start tournament at Loudon Country Club on Aug. 21. Teams are $175 for a foursome or $50 per player. Driving range is open at 2 p.m., shotgun start at 3 p.m. with dinner and awards at 5 p.m. Space is limited. Hopkinton Youth Sports Association grand opening and ribbon cutting will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon to celebrate Hopkinton Middle/High School’s newly refurbished tennis courts. HYSA and the Town of Hopkinton were able to restore the previously neglected courts thanks to generous contributions from the United States Tennis Association along with USTA New England and USTA New Hampshire. The first hour of the grand opening will be geared towards children ages 5-8, will feature an obstacle course and will allow parents to hit with their children. The second hour will be more focused on kids ages 8-12 and will use the smaller tennis court lines. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. The courts will be available to the public following the opening and HYSA will begin youth and adult programming in July.

Concord Little League Summer Baseball is accepting applications for children ages 8-12 who live in Concord and surrounding communities. Season begins the second week of July and finishes the second week of August and is held at Concord fields. Teams will be comprised of approximately 15 players per team to cover for players who want to go on vacation, camp, special nights, etc. Games are only played on weekday evenings, not Fridays. Cost is $35 per player and each player receives a team t-shirt and hat. UNH men’s basketball team Elite Camp will be on Saturday for players entering grades 9-12 next fall. The camp features personalized skill instruction, 5-v-5 game play, college admission and NCAA Eligibility Center informational sessions.
