Fisher Cats result

Harold Ramirez doubled and singled twice, driving home three runs, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Portland Sea Dogs, 11-6. Ryan Hissey homered, singled and scored two runs for the Fisher Cats. New Hampshire was bolstered by a five-run third inning that included a two-run single from Ramirez. The teams traded runs in the fourth and the Sea Dogs cut into the deficit with four runs in the fifth inning, but the Fisher Cats added four more runs in the fifth (thanks to a Connor Panas three-run blast), and one in the eighth (a solo shot from Hissey) to secure the win. Craig Breslow got the win thanks to a scoreless inning in relief.

Youth baseball

The Concord Capitols New England Independent Baseball League team, a summer wooden-bat league for high school athletes, went 2-1 in its first week of play, defeating both Claremont and Hollis Brookline, both by scores of 3-2, and losing to ConVal, 1-0. Jake Vierzen pitched a four-hitter to get the win against Hollis Brookline. Mario Fusco led the offense against Claremont with a single, double, RBI and run and Pat Goren pitched a three-hitter. In the to ConVal, Fusco and Vierzen both pitched well, allowing a combined five hits and one unearned run.

Golf results

Three teams tied for the win in Concord Country Clubโ€™s Best Two Balls of Four Ribbon Game. Chris Friedman, Cheryl Murphy, Cecie Hartigan and Carol Forbush, finished with a 12-under 132, as did the team of Jean VerPlanck, Kim Hutton, Teddy Brunkhorst and Becky Gauthier, and the foursome of Kathy Barnes, Diane Clarner, Sue Edy and Sally Winship.

Bob Demary aced Duston Country Clubโ€™s 117-yard second hole using an 8-iron. The shot was witnessed by Gerry Davis, Joe St. Pierre and Dave Voelxen.

NH Lady Cannons softball tryouts for the 2019 season for the 10U, 12U and 14U teams will be held July 16 from 5:30-7 p.m., July 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. and Aug. 11 from 10 a.m.-noon at Concord Sports Center. Seacoast United Baseball Club will host a summer baseball skills series on Mondays in July. Skills camps will focus on general hitting and defensive concepts. New England Fusion U16 Gold softball is looking for a utility player to add to the team.
