For the first time in the team’s history, the New Hampshire Wild played their home opener at Memorial Field in Concord on Wednesday.

The team impressed in its home debut with a 15-1 win over the Plattsburgh Redbirds.

The team was formed in 2016, with this year being the first they play in Concord. Last year, New Hampshire did not have a team. The Wild are part of the Empire Professional Baseball League, a semi-pro league with six teams after expanding from four teams last year.

There are currently 20 players on the team from all over the continental U.S. and one from Puerto Rico. Wild manager Scott “Nate” Nathanson has been a manager in the league since the current owner took over in 2016. This is his first season with the Wild.

“We’re excited about being here,” Nathanson said. “The rest of the season looks very, very promising. I have a great group of players here. They’re great people.”

The win has the Wild leading the league with a 7-2 record, and they’ll will be playing 30 of their 50 games this season at Memorial Field.
