There’s a familiar face atop the leaderboard at the 115th New Hampshire Amateur Golf Championship.

22-year-old Matthew Paradis, who plays out of Concord Country Club and finished-runner up in each of the last two tournaments, is tied for the lead with a 4-under-67 after the first day of action Sunday at Hanover Country Club.

Manchester Country Club’s Ryan Brown also shot 4 under, joining six other golfers who carded rounds below par.

Manchester Country Club’s Ryan Tombs and Carter Country Club’s Pat Pelletier tied for third at 3 under, Brandon Gillis sits alone in fifth at 2 under and Tommy Ethier and Ryan Quinn are in a two-way tie for sixth at 1 under.

Belmont High School boys’ basketball coach and Ridgewood Country Club member Jim Cilley finished his round in a three-way tie for eighth with Nate Choukas and James Pleat at even par.

Other locals in action included Concord Country Club’s Fletcher Sokul (tied for 11th at 1 over), William Hartigan (tied 29th, 3 over), Tyler Cole (tied 58th, 6 over) and Jim Cardoso (tied 97th, 9 over); Concord native Kurt Eddins finished his opening round tied for 58th place at 6 over; Derek Jensen (tied 52nd, 5 over), Eric Saucier (tied 132nd, 15 over) and Ryan Phinney (15 over) played out of Beaver Meadow; while Laconia Country Club’s William Everett (5 over), A.J Correia (6 over), Eric Foster (tied 91st, 8 over), Gavin Brickley (tied 114th, 12 over) and Keith Boyle (tied 76th, 7 over) finished out strong.

Joshua Lacasse (7 over), Robert Geverd (15 over), and Ricky Bergevin (tied 103rd, 10 over) all competed out of Pembroke Pines.

The second round of stroke play will begin Monday morning with the first group teeing off at 7:30 a.m.
