The New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs recently held its 85th annual meeting and lunch at the Keene Country Club in Keene. The event was hosted by NHFGC’s District 3 garden clubs from Claremont, Fitzwilliam, New London, Old Homestead (Keene/Swanzey) and Peterborough. Club presidents and members of the N.H. Federation’s 19 area garden clubs that are located within New Hampshire were in attendance. President Joyce Kimball selected District 4, which includes the garden clubs of Atkinson, Derry, Epping, Fremont, Sandown and Windham, to receive this year’s President’s District Award, which is awarded to the district that has most advanced the objectives of the N.H. Federation of Garden Clubs and National Garden Clubs during the previous year. NHFGC awards Chairwoman Jane Goodwin presented a variety of awards to the clubs for their special projects, programs and activities of the past year.

Following some social time and lunch, an entertaining and informative program was given by Kevin Bragg, owner of Canterbury Plantation and Hands To Lend Fine Gardening located in Canterbury.

The N.H. Federation of Garden Clubs will hold its fall meeting on Sept. 19 in Manchester at the Puritan Conference and Event Center. It will feature a Small Standard Flower Show and the presentation “Taking the Mystery Out of Standard Flower Shows” presented by members of the New Hampshire Judge’s Council.
