Mark Placy and Don Steenbeke Jr. won the two-ball best ball event at Concord Country Club on Sunday with a score of 59. Steenbeke also tied for second teaming up with Lee Blossom to shoot 60. Scott Towle and Brian Smith shared the tie for second place. Dave Perry and Don Steenbeke Jr., and Dave Kruse and Ray Steenbeke tied for third shoorting 61. The ladies of Concord CC played a game where they threw out the worst three holes to get a final net score. Mary Hogan won the event with a final score of 46. There was a three-way tie for second place at 52 between Chris Friedman, Marge Bell and Barb Beers.

Tryouts/Registrations

NFL Flag Football is being offered by Concord Parks and Recreation. It is a league for boys and girls, ages 6 to 11. The league provides boys and girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football while playing in a safe environment. The league runs Sundays from Sept. 9 to Oct. 21. Ages 6-8 meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., ages 9-11 meet from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and ages 12-14 meet 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Final signup deadline is Aug. 24.

Beginner to advanced archery classes, through the Concord Parks and Recreation department, run Saturday afternoons for six-week sessions at the Green Street Community Center. Boot Camp, via the Concord Parks and Recreation department, is 45 minutes of fast, high intensity, sweaty fun. Each class is different using a variety of formats and equipment and will challenge your body in new ways. Classes run Wednesdays from 5 to 5:45 p.m. from Wednesday to Sept. 12, and Saturdays from 8:15 to 9 a.m. from Saturday to Sept. 8. Instructed by Jodi Cornell.

Norโ€™Easter Softball Club tryouts for the 2019 season will be held on Sunday at the Belmont High School softball field. NH Lady Cannons softball tryouts for the 2019 season for the 10U, 12U and 14U teams will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. noon at Concord Sports Center. Merrimack Valley High School fall sports start on Aug. 13 at 8:30 a.m. except for football and spirit. Football equipment handout will be on Thursday for grades 11-12 from 3:30-5 p.m. and on Friday for grades 9-10 from 3:30-5 p.m. Fall spirit tryouts will be on Aug. 20 from 8-10 a.m. at Penacook Elementary School. Athletes starting on Aug. 13will meet on their respective game field in the stands. All athletes must have a physical on file (given after Jan. 1 of athletesโ€™ eighth-grade year) and current ImPact test (must recertify every two years). Physicals and ImPact tests are required prior to trying out. Interscholastic Athletic Agreement forms must be signed by the student-athletes and returned on Aug. 14.

Cap City Fall Basketball tryouts will be on Sunday, Aug. 14 (grades pre-K through sixth), Aug. 15 (grades 7-12), Aug. 18 and Aug. 26 for boys and girls of all abilities between pre-kindergarten and 12th grade.
