Beth Hamilton of Canterbury Woods was crowned the winner of the Women’s City Golf Championship after shooting a two-round total of 160 at Pembroke Pines and Loudon Country Club. Hamilton, a seven-time champion of the event, won her third straight title despite starting the second day five strokes behind the leader. Pembroke Pines member Mindy Inglis-Reid finished runner-up at 161. Karen Bricken of Loudon Country Club blew away the field on the net side, carding a 65 in the second round to finish at 136.
Fletcher Sokul won the Club Championship at Concord Country Club with a two-day total of 7-over par 147. His finish was one shot better than runner-up Dave Perry. Bob Mielcarz took third overall with a score of 155. In the Women’s Club Championship, Chris Friedman took the victory with a total of 174. Kathy Barnes won the Net Champion at even par 144. Mike Boylan won the Super Seniors Division with net rounds of 72-68 for a score of 4-under. In the First Flight of net rounds, Steve Edwards won with a 5-under. And Allen Lindquist won the Second Flight with net rounds of 73-69 for finish of 2-over.
Brian Gaskell won first place gross with a 78 and Gill Rogers won first place net with a 72 at Beaver Meadow’s 3rd annual Lefty’s Tournament.
Mike Lewis dispatched Todd Place, 6-0, 6-1, and Matt Salter bested Scott Blassingame, 7-6 (10-8), 6-2, in the singles semifinals of the Cocnord City B Tennis tournament. Lewis and Salter will meet in the final Monday following the conclusion of the doubles final, which features Bill Simonton and Roy Weddleton taking on Krishna Giri and Harka Gurung at Bow Brook Club at 4:30 p.m.

Public roller skating nights are returning this summer to the Douglas N. Everett Arena on Friday and Sunday nights. Admission is $5 and skate rentals are available for $5. NFL Flag Football is being offered by Concord Parks and Recreation. It is a league for boys and girls, ages 6-11. CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Championship is set for March 16 at SNHU Arena in Manchester. Tryouts for Team Fire are Sept. 22 (2-3 p.m.), Sept. 28 (7:15-8:15 p.m.) and Oct. 6 (3:15-4:15 p.m.). Tryouts for Team Police are Sept. 22 (3:15-4:15 p.m.), Sept. 28 (6-7 p.m.) and Oct. 6 (2-3 p.m.). All tryouts are at Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College.
Potential players must attend at least one tryout. Eligible participants include local and state police officers, sheriffs, marshals, homeland security, dispatchers, and corrections officers; full and part-time, call, and volunteer firefighters, dispatchers, and EMT/paramedics. Rosters will be announced in October with orientation, fundraising, and practices beginning in November. The event and its participants raise money for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
