Two articles positioned side by side in the Aug. 13 edition of the Monitor impressed me immensely. Bill Rogers’s jump as a tribute to his late wife’s memory and the inspiring love they had for one another was an example of the heights to which the human spirit can soar. His grandson was so inspired by Bill and Natalie’s lifelong example of mutual love that he aspires to such a relationship in his own life. Impressive and positive example of enduring love even after loss.
Beside this article, the tragic story of an animal rescue effort gone awry. A husband and wife team who withheld even water from the animals entrusted to their care. The depths of depravity to which the human spirit can plummet. Sharon Morey’s words at the end of the article moved me to tears.
One article so uplifting, one sending me into absolute bleakness. Both stories needing to be told.
