Symphony N.H. will begin its 2018-19 season “Celebrating Mozart” in Concord with guest conductor Scott Parkman and guest performers Mark and Maggie O’Connor.
The performance will be Sunday at the Concord City Auditorium at 3 p.m. There will also be a performance in Nashua at the Keefe Center for the Arts on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Parkman has held conducting positions with the St. Louis Symphony, Oakland Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra. He has conducted professional and youth orchestras throughout the United States, as well as in Europe and Australia. Parkman is a finalist in the Symphony N.H. music director search.
Parkman will offer a talk at 7 p.m. before the Nashua performance.
Mark O’Connor is a Grammy- and Country Music Award-winning violinist. With Symphony N.H., he will play his “Concerto for Fiddle and Orchestra” and a duet with his wife, Maggie, “Strings and Threads for Two Violins.”
A member of the powerhouse bluegrass band Strength in Numbers, O’Connor has gone on to collaborate and record with bluegrass and classical music titans like Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Renée Fleming, and more. Mark and his wife Maggie perform nationwide together as a duo, as well as members of the Mark O’Connor Band and on tour with the Zac Brown Band.
The program will also include Mozart’s Impresario Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
Tickets for these shows will range from $25 to $60.
Symphony N.H. will also launch a new series in its 95th season, Symphony N.H. Presents. It will begin with a “The Music of John Williams” on Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Keefe Center for the Arts and Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. at the Audi.
Symphony N.H.’s Subscription Series begins Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. at the Keefe Center with Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony.
Subscription Series tickets are $18 to $52, with subscriber discounts, discounts for seniors 62 and older, $10 student tickets and free tickets for younger audience members ages 15 and under.
Symphony N.H. Presents tickets are $25 to $65.
