Beginning in October, high school seniors from New Hampshire will turn their attention to an important step in the college application process for the upcoming 2019-20 academic year – applying for financial aid. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required by all colleges and universities nationwide to determine a student’s eligibility for federal financial aid, federal education grants and for some universities, institutional grants. The NHHEAF Network Organizations’ Center for College Planning assists New Hampshire families with completing the FAFSA in their Concord office. As part of these free, individual counseling appointments, the Organizations’ college counselors also provide assistance in understanding postsecondary financing options beyond federal and institutional aid. To register for a FAFSA filing appointment, or for assistance with a FAFSA question, please call 888-747-2382, ext. 119. For important FAFSA filing tips, visit the Paying for College section of NHHEAF’s website at nhheaf.org. For more information about the FAFSA, please visit fafsa.gov.
Enjoy a blend of the past and present at New London Historical Society’s Harvest Sunday this weekend from 1 to 4 p.m. Roast hotdogs and and s’mores around the campfire. Join the Hilltop Madrigals for a sing-a-long and dancing. Grab a horseshoe and join the Andover Horseshoe Club for a game or two. Help crank the hand-pressed cider mill with our hardworking “Tuesday Gang.” Next, hurry over to the General Store for our bake sale and take a tour of our other buildings like the schoolhouse, violin shop, Phillips Barn, and the carriage museum, which houses more than 30 carriages and sleighs! Warm up as you watch our blacksmith forge tools, barter with the proprietor of the Country Store and, finally, help Eagle Hose Company extinguish the campfire with a “piano box” pumper.
