I have two requests for all New Hampshire voters. The first is for everyone to read; the second is more specific and local – and therefore optional.

1. America is a democracy “of the people, by the people and for the people.” Therefore, it is important that all of us vote on Nov. 6. Right now in the country and especially here in New Hampshire, one party controls both the executive and legislative branches of government. The result is that mainly ideas acceptable to one party are most likely to be enacted. America is better off with dialogue and compromise.

2. Now the optional ideas. I hope that the District 1 voters will elect Mike Cryans to the Executive Council. He supports education, Planned Parenthood, which supplies needed medical and counseling services (not abortion), and financial responsibility.

Two very good candidates are running for the state Legislature in the Andover, Danbury, Salisbury, Webster and Warner district: David Karrick and Ken Wells. David has served our towns in the past and has been involved in what we need. Ken is running for the first time and is very tuned in to our towns and the state. Both are focused on education, opposing the voucher plan that would send public taxpayer money to private schools. Both support women’s rights and programs. Both listen to their constituents instead of talking down to them.

Please do what you think is best for our country, state and towns. But be sure to vote on Nov. 6.
