A proclamation by Gov. Chris Sununu decrees October as National Principals Month was presented by Deputy Commissioner Christine Brennen to the New Hampshire Association of School Principals at the Board of Directors meeting Oct. 12.

October is designated annually as National Principals Month to recognize the essential role that principals play in school achievement and student success. A nationwide celebration of the principalship, National Principals Month is an initiative of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, and the American Federation of School Administrators.

Many activities will take place during National Principals Month, including individual school celebrations across the country and the opportunity for you to nominate your principal for next years award at NHASP.org.

This year the following were awarded for their dedication: David Levesque, Pleasant Street School, Laconia Elementary; Aaron Pope, Belmont Middle School Middle; Robert Scully, Souhegan High School, Amherst Secondary.
