Boscawen N.H. Open Doors

Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen has three fun events planned for N.H. Open Doors which takes place this weekend. On Saturday at Sleighbell Studio, a curated holiday showcase of fine art and craft, will open with an artists’ reception from 1 to 3 p.m. All of the work is locally made and affordably priced for giftgiving. On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Twiggs has teamed up with the Payson Cancer Center of Concord Hospital to create “heARTwarmers” which are tiny works of art the size of trading cards. Everything needed to make the art cards will be supplied. Drop in anytime to make one or several cards. The nurses at the Payson Center will give them out to patients receiving treatment to give them a caring and fun boost to their day. Finally, all weekend long from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Adele Sanborn, calligrapher and mixed media artist, will be offering studio tours and selling her artwork.

Tilton Christmas Craft Fair

Start stocking up for Christmas on Saturday, as the New Hampshire Veterans Home brings back its annual holiday crafts fair, a once-traditional event that has been dormant for most of the last decade. More than 25 vendors will be participating in the event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the town hall auditorium and adjoining areas of the Home. Visitors will be able to choose from a wide selection of crafts, gifts, jewelry, pottery, soaps and more, or pick up some items from the inexpensive White Elephant Table. All proceeds from White Elephant sales will go to the home’s Resident Benefit Fund, which subsidizes resident trips and activities. There will be many raffles throughout the day for a wide variety of items. Snacks, including baked goods, popcorn, water, soda and cocoa will be available for shoppers, as well as soup and sandwiches. For directions, visit nh.gov/veterans.
