The New England Wolves Junior Hockey Program is seeking an additional host family for the upcoming season. They have a player expected to arrive from the Midwest next week. The Wolves range in age from 15 to 20 years old and are recruited from all over the world, coming to develop as hockey players in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. This years team features players from England, Canada, Florida, Colorado and many more destinations worldwide. In 2017-18, the Wolves program was awarded by the Eastern Hockey League as “Humanitarians of the Year” for their charitable work in their community. Players return home at Thanksgiving and have a two-week break at Christmas. All host families receive $375 per month, per player (can host more than one) for hosting Wolves. If you have a spare bedroom in your home and interested in hosting a player, please email housing coordinator Kerry Mull at mullkl426@gmail.com or call 998-6682 for more information.
An introduction to Ham Radio and class will be offered Nov. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Manchester Red Cross Blood Center, 425 Reservoir Ave., Manchester. The Winni Players Community Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for Thornton Wilder’s comedy, The Skin of Our Teeth, which will run as the first production of the 2019 season at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse. Wilder’s play revolves around George Antrobus, his wife, two children, and their maid, Lily Sabina; “the first family of the human race” who all clamor to survive a series of disasters. In stark contrast to Wilder’s, Our Town, The Skin of Our Teeth is a comedic allegory of durable but optimistic characters fighting to survive an ice age, a flood, and a war, all by the skin of their teeth. The audition is scheduled for Nov. 11 and 12 at 6 p.m. It is not necessary to attend both days of the audition; however, those wishing to participate should be available for all performances which are scheduled for Jan. 31 through Feb. 3, 2019. A full rehearsal and performance schedule is available online at winnipesaukeeplayhouse.org.
