Michael T. Luhr, the National Leader of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, accompanied by his wife Barbara, will visit the New Hampshire State Elks and their Lodges on Sunday and Monday. Grand Exalted Ruler Luhr, a resident of Alaska and the highest ranking officer of this organization which has close to 1 million men and women in its ranks, is coming to New Hampshire as part of his national tour during the month of November. His trip to the Granite State will include a banquet at the Keene, Elks Lodge No. 927 at 5 p.m. Sunday. After dinner, Luhr will speak on his objectives and goals for the Order. Elks from all over New Hampshire will be in attendance to meet Michael and his wife Barbara. On Monday, Michael and his wife will be given a tour of the N.H. State Elks Major Project, Copper Cannon, located in Franconia. This is a summer camp for underprivileged children in N.H. They attend for one week, free of charge, courtesy of the N.H. State Elks Association. The Elks, who contribute millions of dollars in the form of philanthropic programs every year, are best noted for their work with veterans, youth, scholarships and the promotion of many youth activities.
