A graveside wreath laying will commemorate President Franklin Pierce’s 214th birthday today at 10 a.m. in Old North Cemetery in Concord. The wreath is sent annually from the White House and commemorates the president’s date of birth and contributions serving in the country’s highest office. Members of the New Hampshire Army National Guard and the Pierce Brigade will lay the wreath, present the colors and a salute. Second grade students from the Christa McAuliffe School will also participate in the ceremony. Following the wreath-laying, the Pierce Brigade invites the general public to the Pierce Manse at Horseshoe Pond Lane for light refreshments. For more information, please visit piercemanse.org.
Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains will host a free information session for girls and parents Nov. 26 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bristol Fire Department, training room on West Street.
