Three local students will be performing in the Palace Theatre’s The Nutcracker this week. Other stagings of the ballet will be coming to the area over the next month.

Caroline White of Hopkinton and Rachel Burkett and Madeleine Paul, both of Bow, are among area youth to perform with the Southern New Hampshire Dance Theatre in the Palace Theatre’s upcoming Nutcracker from Friday to Sunday.

White, 14, has been cast as Clara, one of the coveted roles in The Nutcracker. She will also be performing the roles of the Mirliton dancer, a snowflake in the snow scene and as a flower in the “Waltz of the Flowers.”

White will be joined on stage by 13-year old Burkett performing the roles of elf, mirliton dancer, a snowflake in snow scene and a flower in “Waltz of the Flowers.” Paul, 14, will also perform the roles of candy cane, mouse, soldier and maid.

Shows will be Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday at 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, noon and 4:30 p.m.

More ‘Nutcracker’

“The Nutcracker: Act II” will be performed by the St. Paul’s School ballet company Dec. 7 to 9. Ballet is under the direction of new Director of Dance Kate Lydon. Concord resident Zoe Dienes will dance as the Sugar Plum Fairy on Sunday. Free and open to the public, first-come, first served. Donations of new toys will also be collected. Info: sps.edu.

“The Nutcracker” will return to the Capitol Center for the Arts on Dec. 1 and 2. Danced by the Eastern Ballet Institute of Concord and accompanied by the Southern New Hampshire Symphony. Concord City Auditorium will host two schools’ “Nutcracker” shows. On Dec. 15 at 2 p.m., the Turning Pointe Center of Dance will perform. On Dec. 21 at 7 p.m., the N.H. School of Ballet will perform. Tickets are $18. Info: concordcityauditorium.org and 344-4747.
