As it stands right now on Interstate 89 south, the biggest trouble is traffic entering from Exit 1, not stopping and then crisscrossing into the southbound traffic. That would happen even with the elimination of the access to Route 3A because they could still be trying to get to Interstate 93 north, crisscrossing in front of vehicles trying to get onto I-93 southbound.

With the elimination of access to Route 3A, any traffic that currently goes south on I-89 to try to take I-93 north will be dead stopped every weekend and race car days because of I-93 northbound backups. That will happen every summer Friday afternoon also. Any accidents on I-93 north or south and I-89 will be jammed to a halt because the next nearest bleed-off point will be Exit 2.

Right now when I come down I-89 and want to go north on I-93, I always look up onto I-93 to see if it is backed up, and if it is I just go to Route 3A and then cross through Concord or cross over Route 3A and go into or through Concord that way. You would be better off eliminating the southbound Exit 1 access to I-89 and route the traffic over to Route 3A to get to I-93 north or south. Having access to Route 3A is an alternative route in case of accidents and has been used multiple times.
