Donald Trump promised the American people that Mexico would pay to build the border wall. No one knows what the real cost will be.
The GAO has harshly criticized Trump’s projections as not being fully analyzed, yet puts the cost at $18 billion. Other estimates ranged between $21 billion to $70 billion. For all who oppose eminent domain, bear in mind that the majority of land on which the wall is to be built is private and will be subject to governmental confiscation.
At a bare minimum Trump has broken his promise: Mexico is not paying for the wall. We, the taxpayers, are footing the bill. This payment is a Trump tax. The $5 billion stick-up is nothing more than a federal toilet flush – a political ploy with real financial consequences.
Ax the Trump tax. Our deficit now is out of control.
Trump’s fiscal year 2018 budget created an $833 billion deficit. The deficit for 2019 is $985 billion. Trump is used to borrowing money that he does not need to repay; the American people do not have this luxury.
