I would like to hear a nationwide, grown-up discussion on our national budget and our American society. This discussion should be based on facts – not lies, not spin, just real data and real facts.

We could start with the current dilemma of “The Wall.” We need to understand what $1 billion would accomplish and compare that with what $5 billion would accomplish. The proponents of the various wall expenditures should explain the benefits and shortfalls of their proposal in clear, concise, no-spin terms.

Our grown-up discussion also needs to include Social Security, Medicare, infrastructure, education, military spending, the crazy trillions of dollars national deficit and similar big-ticket national budget items. But the discussion has to be more than dollars. We need to understand how each of these items makes all of us Americans and earthlings better and safer. We need a grassroots initiative to explore these items in an unbiased factual manner.

It is apparent that our politicians will not initiate this type of discussion. Please engage in nonviolent, grown-up discussions with your friends, family and government representatives so we can all understand the real facts of the major issues and make informed decisions.
