For the past three years I have been a whole-food, plant-based vegan. This means I avoid all animal products and as much packaged/processed food as possible. I made this decision the day my husband announced he was retiring, and we would be on a reduced budget.

Coincidentally, at the same time, I began watching a webinar that opened my eyes to what I was putting in my mouth was doing to my body. I went โ€œcold turkey.โ€ I lost 68 pounds, got off my medications, was no longer pre-diabetic and felt wonderful.

I guess you could say my reasons were financial and medical. I didnโ€™t want to pay doctor and prescription drug costs. I want to live a long, healthy life, and canโ€™t do it while putting a lot of toxins, animal fat, sugar, salt and junk food into my body.
