Firefighters in Weare, with the support of nearby firehouses, battled a two-alarm blaze on a one-story home Wednesday night.
The homeowner was in the house but escaped safely before first-responders arrived. The home sustained significant smoke and fire damage, according to a press release from the fire department in Weare.
Firefighters responded about 8:25 p.m. to 48 Blake Road and found the home mostly in flames when they arrived. Fire Chief Robert Vezina struck a second alarm, summoning additional responders to assist.
โThere was a large amount of fire by the time we arrived,โ Vezina said. โEveryone did a great job given the icy conditions.โ
No civilians were injured. One firefighter from Weare suffered a sprained ankle and was treated at Concord Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
