Concord police have arrested two men accused of carrying out an armed robbery at a home early Tuesday and threatening a resident with knives.
Police said the men knew the victim, who was “severely choked,” and that the incident is likely drug-related.
Nathaniel Wayne Gibbs, 36, and Elias Ross Young, 21, both of Ossipee, each face one count of armed robbery, a Class A felony. Gibbs also faces a felony charge of second-degree assault, and Young was arrested on an unrelated warrant out of Center Harbor charging him with simple assault.
Police responded to a residence on Dunklee Street in the south end of the city on Tuesday at about 4:34 a.m. for a report of a disturbance involving weapons. The department received multiple 911 calls from neighbors reporting that someone was screaming from inside the home.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Gibbs and Young in a truck outside of the home and a male victim who was still inside and said he’d been assaulted, Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said. The victim was taken to Concord Hospital to receive treatment and, although released, will continue to be monitored given the serious nature of his injuries, Ford said.
Investigators believe the knives they found in Gibbs and Young’s possession belong to the victim.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police seized the suspects’ clothing as part of that investigation and search warrants are pending.
Gibbs and Young are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Merrimack County Superior Court in Concord. A third person, the driver of the truck, was questioned and released.
Police ask anyone with information to contact Ford at 230-3728 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100.
