The specialty food store and deli in downtown Concord, Wellington’s Marketplace, abruptly closed Wednesday and will be seeking new ownership.

The store announced its closure Wednesday morning on Facebook.

“We regret to inform you that effective February 6th, Wellington’s Marketplace will be closed and a search for a new owner will ensue,” the post reads in part. “We appreciate the support and patronage we received and it was our pleasure to be part of such a wonderful community that embraces small businesses.”

The store’s wine seminar orders will not be impacted by the closing, the announcement said. Patrons will have the chance to make one last retail stop to say good-bye or spend gift cards from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday.

The store has been in downtown since 2014, and quickly gained a following for its Korean pork burritos and selection of wine and cheeses.

In June 2017, then owners Debra and Randy Barnes announced they would be selling their business as part of a cross-country move to New Mexico for Randy’s new job.

A few months later, father and son team Bill and Trey Brennan purchased the store and its assets. They reopened the store in September 2017.

Wellington’s did not respond immediately to a phone call and message requesting comment.
