The Bow Memorial School girls’ basketball team (above) capped off its perfect season in the Tri County League Division III finals, beating Nashua World Academy, 72-25. Bow (21-0) was led by Alexandra Larrabee’s 18-point, 13-rebound effort. Ellie Pingree also added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Lyndsey LaPerle (12 points, three assists), Isabella LaPerle (10 points, eight steals), Catherine Windsor (10 points, seven rebounds, four assists), Emily Kiah and Sidney Roberge all played key roles. Bow won 20 of its 21 games by more than 20 points and claimed the first Tri County title in school history. Other members of the championship team include Kendall Murray, Megan Landcastle, Sabrina Bernard, Juliette Tarsa, Kate Labrecque and Rachel Pelletier.
■The Andover Middle School boys’ basketball team improved to 11-2 on the season with a 54-41 win over Kearsarge. Ryan Cary had the hot hand in this one, scoring 20 points in the first half to finish the night with 26. Brandon Dukette played solid in the post and added 16 points.
Despite 15 points from Quinn Whitehead and 11 from Mike Oberheim, the Hopkinton JV boys’ basketball team lost a close one to Conant, 53-48.
Maxwell Rand posted a career-high 24 points as the Concord High School Unified basketball team topped Londonderry, 38-26. Jack Smith added five assists and Garrison Kelly finished with a pair of blocks.
The St. Paul’s School Alpine teams won the first of two races in the Lakes Region Championships at Cannon Mountain. Racing in the slalom, the girls’ team was led by the performance of Reed Cole, who finished first overall and was followed by teammate and captain Mari Nakamura. Morgan Cheney took fourth, while Phoebe Schmaltz (11th), Haley Andreasen (14th) and Ellie La Voie (17th) all had strong showings. For the boys’ team, point-scorers included Daniel Cho (second), Mason Cheney (third), captain Charlie Kauffman (sixth), Riki Nakamura (ninth) and Kyle Pellerin (10th). The giant slalom portion of the championships will take place in two weeks.
■Billy Tessien poured in 23 points, Calvin Moffroid added 18 and the Tilton School boys’ JV basketball team rolled past Holderness, 75-42. Batu Dayi chipped in with 14 points for the Rams, who also received 12 points from Quinn Bissonnette.
The New England College women’s basketball team ran away with a 91-21 win over Bay Path University to improve to 13-9 overall. Rene Hudson led three Pilgrims in double figures with 13 points. Anoushka Boatswain and Mariah Thomas notched 10 points apiece.
■New England College junior Carlos Fornaris has been named one of the 25 finalists for the Joe Concannon Award, presented annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston to the best American-born college hockey player in New England at the Division II-III level. Fornaris currently leads the Pilgrims with 31 points and is ranked 21st in the nation in points per game at 1.35. Plymouth State senior Michael Covach is also a finalist. Covach leads the Panthers with 33 points on the season.
The Annual Frank Monahan Foundation Basketball Showcase is scheduled for Sunday at Bishop Brady High School. The showcase features some of the boys’ prep school teams in the country, along with an NHIAA matchup between Bishop Brady and Pembroke Academy. Concord High School and Rundlett Middle School spring sports registration is open and closes on March 4 for CHS and April 15 for RMS. Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb registration is open. Cyclists who wish to compete in this historic bike race to the summit of the highest peak in the northeastern United States can sign up at mwarbh.org. This event is the only opportunity to cycle the Auto Road which is otherwise closed to bicycles. Registration starts at $150 plus fundraising. Entrants may also participate in the Practice Ride, held on July 14. The Practice Ride is limited to 300 participants. the Hillclimb begins at the base of the 7.6-mile Mt. Washington Auto Road and finishes at the mountain’s peak, 6,288 feet above sea level. This event is the main annual fund-raising event for the Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany, N.H. Tin Mountain Conservation Center provides environmental and recreational education for children, schools and families in communities in the White Mountains and the Mt. Washington Valley. Plymouth State University softball team will host clinics Saturday, Feb. 17 and Feb. 23. FieldHouse Sports Soccer Skills and Goalkeeper Clinics are taking registrations for its next six-week sessions. University of New Hampshire field hockey team will be holding a spring clinic/tournament and two summer camps. The April 7 clinic and tourney (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) is open to U14, U16 and U19 high school or club teams, as well as U16 and U19 individuals. Participants will receive instruction from the UNH field hockey coaches and student-athletes. All games will be played at UNH’s Memorial Field. The day includes a minimum of four and maximum of five 25-minute games, 7 vs. 7 play and a one hour pre-tournament clinic. Session 1 of the summer camp will be June 30-July 3 and Session 2 will be July 25-28. The summer camp sessions are open to junior high and high school students as of fall 2019. Players of all skill levels are welcome. Each session includes four days of field hockey instruction and a full evening program. The overnight option includes three meals daily and housing in a UNH residence hall. The day-only option includes two meals daily (lunch and dinner). Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship for any local boys and girls from ages 9-14 will be held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Parish Center on Elkins Street in Franklin. Registration will begin at noon. There is no cost associated with this event. Each contestant will be given a chance to shoot 15 free throws. The winner of each division will be determined by who sinks the most shots. There will be six separate divisions for boys and girls. Trophies will be awarded to the first-place winners. Division winners age nine and over will have a chance to go on and compete at the State of New Hampshire Free Throw Championship. This year’s sponsors are the Knights of Columbus Council 11868 in Tilton, Council 12147 in Franklin, Council 7073 in Bristol and Council 10943 in Belmont. Public ice skating at the Douglas N. Everett Arena in Concord will continue for the season through March 12. Skating hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $5 (kids under age three are free) and skate rentals are available if needed for an additional $5. Cash or check accepted. Adult stick practice (ages 14 and up) will also be returning for the season through March 11. Practice hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-11:20 a.m. Admission is $10 (goalies have free entry). Helmet and gloves are required and full equipment is recommended. Adult drop-in basketball hosted by Concord Parks and Recreation for players 18 and older will be at the Green Street gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 8-10 p.m., and at the new Community Center Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-noon. Fee is $3 for residents (with ID) and $4 for non-residents.
